Finca El Cisne

For my final day in Copan, I took a tour to a coffee plantation which has to be one of the highlights of the trip so far. We spent the morning horse riding around part of the estate, I was interested to learn that not only do they grow shade coffee under the trees but are also part of a programme to reforest areas. The hanging structures are oropendula nests.

Back at the house we had a delicious lunch in which everything except possibly the chicken was produced on the estate, followed of course by their coffee.

Later we did a tour of the processing plant before ending the day with a visit to a hot spring that ran into the river in a steaming waterfall as well as being chaneled into some swimming pools
