Today I took a tour to Monte Alban
, the first historic site Ive seen that wasnt built by the Maya but by the Zapotecs, who apparently flourished at around the same time. The site is currently only the ceremnial centre but the city is known to have been much bigger and we could see on a distant hilltop where the current excavations are which two weeks ago found a ball court bigger than any in the main site.
